Beginners Courses:

The Wild Water Kayak Club Beginners Courses for 2008 are detailed below.

 
Course Duration:6 weeks
Cost:€200 for adults
 €100 for juniors (under 18)
  
 This includes:
 1. 6 week course and assessment
 2. Membership to the club until December 2009. (18 months)
  This is good value as annual membership is €140
 3. Use of all the club gear for the first 12 months.
  (boats/paddles/helmets/lifejackets/spray decks)
 4. A Safety Day and night out at the end of each course.
  
Time:6.30-9.30 (approximately)
Venue:WWKC Clubhouse
 
 

The clubhouse is in Chapelizod, go through village heading West, proceed up the hill, take a left at the traffic lights and we are situated below the Anglers Rest Car-park. Parking is in the Anglers Rest Car Park.

 

Chapelizod Village will be closed for the summer of 2008. See below. Due to roadworks may have to go through Phoenix Park and exit at the Knockmaroon gate and drive down the hill to the club. Or if coming from Lucan drive along Strawberry Beds to the club. If you reach the Anglers Rest Pub you have gone too far.

 

From 31st March until the 30th June 2008 Knockmarron hill will become one way into the city centre.

From the 30th June to 29th August 2008 Knockmarron hill will be closed (local access will be miantained) .

As the courses are full for 2008 you are welcome to send

 an email to learntocanoe@hotmail.com in order to be added to the waiting list.

 

Once a member you will have use of all club gear (Canoe, paddles, buoyancy aid, spray deck, helmet etc) and are welcome to participate in all club activities, including:

 

  • River trips - usually every second Sunday
  • Weekends away - incorporates river running and surfing with a healthy amount of socialising! Recent trips have been to Donegal, Achill and Killarney.
  • The chance to try Canoe Polo, Slalom, Open Canoeing, White Water Racing, Marathon Racing, and Freestyle (formerly Playboating)
  • Regular social activities

An €100 deposit per person is required to secure your place. The balance must be received no later than 2 weeks before the course is due to start. All deposits are non-refundable.  The balance is refundable only if sufficient notice is given prior to the start of the course.
