Ger, Gerry, will be facilitating the day with with Alan and Kieran helping out

The get on Point is Stackallen, meeting at 9.30 am, Saturday 18th

Please note this trip is classed as a peer paddle, and not an official club trip.

Have a good Breakfast before hand , it could be a long day, Bring snacks, sandwiches, water, jellies, and a hot drink, ensure you bring extra layers too, as we will be swimming, and the water temperature dropping. Open to people that have most of or all of their own gear.

So its going to be a mixture of L2 and L3 who this will be aimed for who want to learn about peer paddling. The amount that can be taken is 8, anyone else who signs up after will be placed on a waiting list

Facilitator : Ger
Helpers are : Alan, Gerry and Kieran( possibly if L4 training does not take place)

Participants:
1) Catherine L2
2) Paul L2
3) Philip L2
4) Anna L2
5) Shane L2
6) Cormac L3
7) Una L2
8) Stephen L2

Waiting List:
1)Clayton

Please can you confirm beside you name what gear you have, and what gear you require, eg throw rope in order to take part, so that we see what gear we need to can see if we can borrow.

Please enjoy the day, and please listen to the guys and respect them as they are giving up their time, to teach us how to do this safely.

If you feel there is anything that needs to be added, please do so,
Thanks

Stephen

Thanks for posting up Stephen.
Have enough helpers now, as don't want groups getting too big,
But can take 10 L2s or L3s who haven't managed to get out peer paddling yet, and don't know how to empty boats, tow boats, tow swimmers and aren't comfortable picking lines down wiers on the boyne/liffey.
So that's 2 more spaces available.

Have all my own basic gear (kayak, spray deck, ba, helmet & paddle).
Should also have my own rope (15m) & knife but will confirm once they're in my hands.

Hi All,

Looking good for weekend. Levels should be good.

As Stephen says, you will notice the difference in water temperature if you haven't been out in it in the last 2 or 3 weeks, and nights are to be cold over the next few days, so bring warm clothes, plenty of layers, and if you tend to feel the cold, a hot drink.

Could be a long day, so brings at least a snack, if not a bit more.

We will meet at Stackallen at 9.30 sharp, and sort out shuttles and groups from there. Should be a great day,

Ger

Just checking levels - Boyne at 125cm as per River spy. It was at 114 cm for the trip with Amy.
Should be good. Thinking about bringing the playboat but I think I will bring the creeker and all the gear as it is a peer paddle.
Looking forward to it.

Can you paddle it? I've no idea. We'll see tomorrow morning.

Of Course I can paddle the boat. The only question is whether it will be me or the boat on top. I was only concerned that after signing up to help you teach these guys how to peer paddle that bringing the playboat might be seen as a dereliction of duty.
See you tomorrow.
